Schottky bypass diodes fail from thermal cycling — Chinese tier-1 J-box makers now use TVS diodes or MOS-Bypass which run 15-20°C cooler. Ask the module supplier which diode is used in their J-box; refuse plain Schottky for 25+ year projects.
