INMETRO compliance is mandatory
Every module SKU sold in Brazil must be INMETRO-registered under Ordinance 140/2022 (updates 004/2011). Testing happens at INMETRO-accredited labs (CEPEL, LabelO, IEE-USP) and takes 8–14 weeks. Chinese manufacturers with existing INMETRO registration ship in days; new SKUs take a quarter.

Frequently asked questions
QIs there an anti-dumping duty on Chinese solar in Brazil?
No AD on modules. The 2024 Camex decision raised the import duty on modules (NCM 8541.43.00) from 0% to 10.8% but rejected an anti-dumping petition. Inverters carry a separate 14% duty.
QHow do I qualify for GD Group A net-metering?
Modules must be INMETRO A-labelled and the inverter must comply with ABNT NBR 16149 / 16150 / IEC 62116. The distribution utility approves the interconnection.
